Alphox 100

Non-Ionic Surfactant · Ethoxylated Alcohol — Bulk supply across India & International Markets

What is Alphox 100?

Alphox 100 is a non-ionic surfactant from the ethoxylated fatty alcohol family, similar to Alphox 200 but with a lower degree of ethoxylation — meaning fewer ethylene oxide (EO) units in the molecular chain. This results in a lower HLB value compared to Alphox 200, making Alphox 100 more lipophilic (oil-loving) and better suited for applications requiring emulsification of oils or where a less water-soluble surfactant is preferred.

Polychem Industries supplies both Alphox 100 and Alphox 200 to give our customers the ability to choose the right ethoxylated alcohol grade for their specific formulation requirements. Alphox 100 is widely used in industrial cleaning, textile processing, agricultural emulsifiers, and personal care formulations where a mid-range HLB surfactant is needed.

Applications & Uses

🧴

Emulsifier in Formulations

Alphox 100's moderate HLB value makes it an excellent emulsifier for oil-in-water systems. Used in industrial emulsions, cutting oils, and formulations where stable oil-water emulsification is required.

🧵

Textile Processing

Used in textile scouring, wetting, and lubricating operations. Its moderate hydrophilicity makes it effective at penetrating fabric structures and emulsifying machine oils and waxes during processing.

🌾

Agricultural Emulsifiers

Used as an emulsifier in pesticide and herbicide formulations where oil-based active ingredients need to be stably dispersed in water. Provides consistent emulsion stability across a range of temperatures.

🏭

Industrial Cleaning

Effective in industrial degreasers and cleaning formulations where emulsification of heavy oils and greases is the primary objective rather than high foam or aggressive wetting.

💆

Personal Care — W/O Systems

Used in water-in-oil personal care formulations such as cold creams, ointments, and skin barrier products where oil-phase emulsification is needed.

🎨

Paints & Coatings

Used as a wetting agent and pigment dispersant in solvent-based and water-based paint formulations. Its moderate HLB makes it suitable for a range of pigment types.

Frequently Asked Questions

When should I use Alphox 100 instead of Alphox 200?
Use Alphox 100 when your application requires emulsification of oils (moderate HLB ~12–14) rather than strong detergency and wetting. Alphox 100 is better for oil-in-water emulsions, agricultural formulations with oil-based actives, and textile lubricant applications. Alphox 200 is better for liquid detergents, hard surface cleaners, and applications where strong wetting and detergency are the priority.
Can Alphox 100 and Alphox 200 be blended?
Yes — blending Alphox 100 and Alphox 200 allows formulators to achieve a target HLB value between the two products. This is a common technique in emulsion formulation to optimise the HLB for a specific oil phase. The two products are fully compatible with each other and can be blended in any ratio.
Is Alphox 100 biodegradable?
Yes — ethoxylated fatty alcohols including Alphox 100 are readily biodegradable under aerobic conditions. They are classified as biodegradable surfactants and are preferred over older surfactant types from an environmental perspective.
Do you export Alphox 100 outside India?
Yes. We export to Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bhutan, and South Africa with full export documentation. Contact us for export pricing and lead times.
