It is one of the strongest commercially available bases, readily dissolving in water with significant heat generation to form a highly alkaline solution. Caustic Potash is a highly corrosive, strongly alkaline material that can cause severe burns to skin and eyes on contact, and its dissolution in water is strongly exothermic. Handle only with appropriate PPE including chemical-resistant gloves, face shield, and protective clothing. Never add water to the solid material directly — always add the solid slowly to water with continuous stirring to manage heat generation safely.
