SAP · Hygiene & Agricultural Grade — Bulk supply across India & International Markets
Super Absorbent Polymer (SAP) is a lightly cross-linked polyacrylate polymer with the extraordinary ability to absorb and retain water-based liquids at many times its own dry weight — typically 300 to 500 times. It is produced from Acrylic Acid that has been polymerised and lightly cross-linked, then neutralised with sodium or potassium hydroxide. The resulting polymer absorbs liquid through osmotic pressure and forms a stable hydrogel that retains the absorbed liquid even under moderate pressure.
Polychem Industries supplies Super Absorbent Polymer to hygiene product manufacturers, agricultural companies, and industrial absorbent producers across India and internationally. SAP is the core technology behind modern hygiene products, having revolutionised the diaper and sanitary products industry by replacing bulky cellulose fluff with thin, highly absorbent polymer cores.
| Grade | Form | Purity | Standard | Applications |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Hygiene / Agricultural Grade | White granular powder | ≥99.5% (Hygiene Grade) | Hygiene / Agricultural | Diapers, sanitary products, agriculture, industrial absorbents |
The single largest global application. SAP forms the absorbent core of disposable baby diapers, allowing for thin, lightweight products with exceptional liquid absorption and retention, keeping skin dry and reducing leakage.
Used in adult diapers, incontinence pads, and underpads where high absorption capacity, retention under pressure, and odour control are critical performance requirements for user comfort and dignity.
Used in sanitary napkins and pads as the core absorbent material, providing thin, comfortable products with high absorption capacity and excellent fluid retention under body pressure.
Used as a soil conditioner and water-retention additive in agriculture, horticulture, and landscaping. SAP absorbs and stores water in soil, releasing it gradually to plant roots, reducing irrigation frequency and improving drought resistance.
Used in cable wrap applications to prevent water ingress along fibre optic and electrical cables, and in industrial spill control and absorbent pads for managing aqueous liquid spills.
Used in absorbent pads for food packaging (meat, fish, poultry trays) to absorb purge liquid and extend shelf appearance, and in cold-chain packaging for moisture control.
